FLEET & EQUIPMENT
The DP Star was built in 1971 and with a length of 40 meters and a width 9 meters it is Trans hex Marine’s smallest vessel. The vessel is mainly used for geophysical survey, benthic sampling, and geotechnical operations. She is also capable of launching small ROV’s from its deck to assist with various tasks.
To enable her to carry out these surveying operations she is equipped with a Kongsberg multibeam echosounder EM 710 as well as a Topas 40 seismic unit which are build into her hull.
She also has a 6-ton pivoting A frame and winch which allows her to use various towed area instrumentation (Magneto meter, Geo Sparker 2000) or seabed sampling systems.
With her open back deck, she is also sometimes used to bring small loads of cargo to and from other Trans Hex Marine mining vessels allowing them to carry out their operations non-stop.
